Hi, I'm Jeff.123
I'm a software developer and product manager based in Calgary, Canada. I like building systems that are boring in the right ways: understandable, debuggable, and owned by the people running them.
This capsule is a collection of notes, guides, and opinions about:
- self-hosting and home lab infrastructure
- privacy-respecting services
- networking, tunnels, and remote access
- tools that solve real problems without unnecessary complexity
I'm especially interested in setups that:
- minimize external trust
- avoid exposing things to the public internet unless absolutely necessary
- keep working when the Wi-Fi flakes out or a SaaS product changes its pricing
You won't find "best practices" for hyperscale startups here. You will find write-ups from someone who actually runs this stuff day to day and has strong feelings about unnecessary cloud dependencies.
When I'm not writing code or tearing down over-engineered setups, I'm usually in the mountains hiking or camping — or riding unicycles, which explains the name.

Why Gemini?
Because the small web is a good idea. Gemini is a deliberately simple protocol — one request, one response, text and links. It can't be enshittified because there's nothing to enshittify. This site serves identical content over gemini:// and https://, so you can read it in Lagrange over a campfire or in Firefox at your desk.
